Richard Mille wraps wrists in Coloured Ceramics
31st January 2024
The RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics automatic from Richard Mille brings playful pastels, delicate guillocharge-crafted dials and a spot of dazzle to wrists. Honing inspiration from 80s Memphis Design, in all its iconic boldness.
The 80s are back, in the form of an automatic watch. Introducing the fun, lighthearted RM 07-01 Coloured Ceramics automatic from Richard Mille that comes in blush pink, lavender or powder blue. Referencing the 1980s Italian art and architecture movement of Memphis Design. Whilst simultaneously sharing trademark features unique to the Swiss-made Richard Mille watches.
The watch is more than just a pretty face. Housing a variable-geometry rotor, allowing the watch to adapt the rewinding of the mainspring to the wearer's activity level. The dials are made by hand using a guillochage craft technique. This is a meticulous art completed at the hand of guillocheurs - who sometimes train for decades before being deemed skilful enough to complete the delicate process.
The eye-catching cases are constructed from Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystal, bringing a toughness similar to that of sapphire. Along with exemplary scratch, water and corrosion resistance. Neatly wrapped round the wrist with a colour-blocked strap. It's safe to say that Ettore Sottsass would be proud.
