A Distinctive Addition to Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf has long been dubbed as London’s financial skyline or ‘Manhattan-upon-Thames’. The mention of the area evokes images of the peak of Citi Tower blinking red, and rushing crowds of dark suits across Dockland bridges. Yes, this area was once thought of being purely a financial district, but has since made waves as one of London’s most sought-after residential areas. In recent decades, a vibrant array of amenities have been peppered in between the high-rise buildings to accompany the rising volume of home-seekers in the area. As of February 2025, a fresh and future-proofed addition to the Canary Wharf residential portfolio has emerged. One Thames Quay, with one-bedroom apartments starting from £600,000, now celebrates its arrival to the area and is ready to hand over some keys.

As sustainability becomes an increasingly important factor in all areas of residential living—from the outfits in our wardrobe to our modes of travel—One Thames Quay has made sustainability a central promise in the development’s offering. It's the first to feature 100% clean integrated energy systems, using zero fossil fuels for heating or cooling and emitting no carbon emissions. Allowing the building to maintain an impressively low carbon footprint, these energy systems are powered entirely by renewable energy sources.

Energy consumption is further reduced for residents through the use of triple-glazed windows to retain heat, and rainwater harvesting systems that collect water from the roof for landscaping irrigation. The eco-consciousness doesn’t stop at the energy systems; this thought goes back to the hiring of the building’s design teams. The bright apartment spaces had input from BoxNine7, Britain’s first B-Corp-certified interior design collective. Additionally, there are EV charging points and bicycle storage to support a low-carbon lifestyle.

Elevated Fitness and Skyline Socials

The slender tower structure of One Thames Quay has been designed by Make Architects, the same powerhouse studio behind Harrods’ most recent programme of refurbishments. Their designs have been optimised by the Design Delivery Unit and Chalegrove Properties, and the building’s foundation integrates vertical bronze panelling and brushed copper details. This is a nod back to the brick warehouses and cranes that once stood in the area during Canary Wharf’s days as one of the busiest docks in the world.
