On the evening of the 27th, the clock struck half six, the doors were opened and the champagne popped. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Sphere Magazine, we enjoyed canapés and cocktails in the fabulous Pompadour Room of the Hotel Cafe Royal, a glittering Versaille-esque space in the middle of Piccadilly.
Arrangements of roses and gardenias in shades of crimson and fuchsia - to match our September cover - added a pop of colour to the gold-adourned space, while the flickering tea lights reflected on the mirrored walls provided an intimate feel to the party. Guests were invited to nibble on a selection of canapés (the chicken satay and sausage quiches are still lingering in our minds). To quench everyone's thirst after the gruelling work day, silver trays were passed around topped with champagne, gin and tonics and Moscow Mules. For something a bit stronger, Mac and Wild's Auld Pal cocktail made with Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old whisky, bianco vermouth, wild chamomile, gorse flower, dandelion & burdock bitters was served on the rocks.
Guests made their way to the balcony (which happened to be the location of our cover shoot) for some fresh air and to enjoy the sound of the rainstorm passing through, flipping through our current issue and chatting to new and familiar faces.
