Asteroid City will be the next feature directed by Wes Anderson due be released towards the end of 2022.
Described as a “poetic meditation on the meaning of life”, the film is set in a fictional American desert town circa 1955 and its Junior Stargazer convention.
The huge cast features a mixture of familiar faces and new editions to Anderson’s cinematic universe, including Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum and Rita Wilson.
The film was co-written by Roman Coppola, who previously worked with Anderson on The Darjeeling Limited, Moonrise Kingdom, Isle Of Dogs, and The French Dispatch.
Anderson will follow-up Asteroid City with an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel and Ben Kingsley.
